Meet The Team

James qualified from the University of Newcastle- upon- Tyne in 2004 with distinction in restorative dentistry and a prize for his finals case study presentation.  After graduating James continued to work in the North East for 4 years. Following his marriage in 2008, a passion for scuba diving led James to Australia where he spent 18 months working in a forward thinking private practice in Queensland.

James joined Toft Road in April 2010 and became a partner in April 2014. He continues to pursue post graduate training in order to offer the highest level of care to his patients. James successfully passed the Diploma of the Joint Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons in November 2012. In 2014 he completed an aesthetic restorative course to enable him to provide more advanced treatment options for his patients which are minimally invasive.

James has been restoring implants since 2015 and trained to place implants in 2018. His interest in implants as a treatment option for patients led him to complete a postgraduate diploma in dental implants in which he achieved a distinction.

James has two young children, Miles and Anna.

John’s main interests are in preventive and restorative dentistry, with a particular emphasis on treating nervous patients. For the past thirty years he has enjoyed providing quality dentistry for the whole family and indeed now for children of patients he first knew when they were still at school!

John qualified from the Turner Dental School in 1984, and worked for a year at the Manchester Dental Hospital as house officer. In 1987 John joined the Toft Road Dental Practice as an associate working for the practices founder, J Stuart McKenzie and Roger Turner, both tutors of his at the Dental Hospital. In 1990 he became a partner with Roger Turner, and after Roger’s retirement, partner with James Gilmore in 2014.

For relaxation, playing saxophone and hill walking are his hobbies.
